Confucius he say "To be bored, it first has to occur to you that you are bored".
The only time I've ever been bored on a bushwalk was one evening when my companions went to bed at 8pm claiming to be worn out by the long day. Long day? In the middle of winter? GMAB. I was still wide awake so amused myself looking at the fire till I got tired or the fire went out - can't remember which came first. This wasn't Tassie so I didn't see the necessity to bring my waterproof library and MP3s weren't invented then. Strangely enough, or perhaps not, I've never spent even a minute bored when I've been out on extended walks by myself even in monotonous country.
I'm going to be 8 days with a small group on the Snowies main range in early summer. Anyone claiming they're bored can go out and make themselves useful by mustering brumbies or counting wombats.
