Mount Painter from Bindubi Street(via BNT)

Starting from Bindubi Street, Cook, this walk takes you to the summit of Mount Painter and the lookouts nearby, mostly via the Bicentennial National Trail and back. You might not feel like it at first, but as you get to the higher and more spacious parts of the hike you’ll know you’re in for some gorgeous views over the region, especially the Brindabella Range. You’ll also be able to see the Telstra Tower from the top, rising 192.5 metres above Black Mountain. The picturesque panoramic view is particularly beautiful at sundown, as the interchanging color spectrum transforms the image. This walk also can also make a great exercise, one which you can take your dog with(on lead). Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From Bindubi Street(950 metres north of William Hovell Drive), head towards the wooden horse stile with railings next to the metal gate along the grass/dirt, moving directly away from the road. Pass over the stile, then immediately turn right and head directly towards the concrete trail(Bicentennial National Trail) 15 metres away from you. Turn left and follow the concrete trail as it slightly veers right to continue along Mount Painter from Bindubi Street(via BNT) Track.....

	After another 65 m veer left, to head along Bicentennial National Trail.
	After another 390 m turn left, to head along Bicentennial National Trail. After another 155 m continue straight, to head along Bicentennial National Trail. After another 235 m continue straight.
	After another 120 m turn left.
	After another 100 m turn right. Then head up the very steep (20% ~ 11.3°) earthen incline (about 260 m long)
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. A recommended little side trip taking you to another lookout, providing you panoramic views over the western part of the reserve. Involves steps. To start this optional side trip turn right here. On returning from this side trip turn left when you get back to this intersection. Details below. Turn left. After another 5 m come to the "Mount Painter". After another 45 m pass a seat (5 m on your right)., has no backrest. Then come to the viewpoint (on your right). Then pass the sign (on your right). Then head up the surface\|compacted steps (about 3 m long)
	Continue another 55 m to find the end. Then turn around here and retrace the main route for 1.4 km to get back to the start. A viewpoint. A seat., has no backrest. A sign.

A recommended little side trip taking you to another lookout, providing you panoramic views over the western part of the reserve. Involves steps.
