Other planned events: Notice of ongoing 1080 program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting ongoing aerial and ground baiting programs. Aerial baiting and ground baiting is scheduled from 8th June 2025 to 8th December 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of Wild dogs and Foxes.
Aerial baiting and ground baiting will occur in:
Richmond River Area – Captains Creek Nature Reserve (NR), Richmond Range National Park (NP), Bundjalung NP
Clarence Area - Nymboi-Binderay NP, Nymboida NP, Mount Neville NR, Banyabba NR and State Conservation Area (SCA), Ramornie NP, Bundjalung NP
Coffs Coast Area - Bagul Waajaarr NR, Bindarri NP, Cascade NP, Chaelundi NP and SCA, Cunnawarra NP, Dorrigo NP, Dunggir NP, Gumbaynggirr SCA, Jobs Mountain NR, Mount Hyland NR and SCA, New England NP, Ngambaa NR, Nymboi-Binderay NP, Serpentine NR.
Hastings Macleay Area- The Cells SCA, Cottan-Bimbang NP, Carrai NP and SCA, New England NP, Pee Dee NR, The Castles NR, Werrikimbe NP, Willi Willi NP, Mount Seaview NR.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Wonga walk partial closure
The following sections of Wonga walk will be closed from Monday 24 February 2025 to the end of July 2025 due to construction works:

• Access to Tristania Falls direct from Gondwanan Circle
• Tristania Falls.

Penalties apply for non compliance. You can still access Wonga walk to Crystal Showers and Hardwood Lookout but must return back the same way.

Closed areas: Southern part of Never Never picnic area
The following sections of Never Never picnic area are closed from Sunday 9 February 2025 to Monday 28 July 2025 due to scheduled upgrade works:

• Southern end of Never Never picnic area
• Never Never picnic shelter
• Never Never picnic shelter carpark

Other areas remain open including the northern parking area, northern picnic area and the toilets.

Closed areas: Walking tracks closed due to damage closed by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred
The following walking tracks are closed until 30 September 2025 due to extensive damage caused by ex-tropical cyclone Alfred:

• Parts of Wonga walk - Tristania Falls section (from Hardwood lookout to Tristania Falls)
• Red Cedar Falls walking track
• Slingsby trail and Syndicate Ridge track

Some sections of Wonga Walk remain open including:

• Lyrebird Link to the Glade
• The Glade to Crystal Showers Falls
• Crystal Showers Falls to Hardwood lookout

Closed areas: Areas closed due to flood damage
Slingsbys trail is closed until further notice due to severe flooding causing damage to infrastructure (bridge).
The western part of Syndicate walking track is closed from Tuesday 16 January  2024 until further notice. NPWS staff are working to assess the damage and repair options. The area will reopen when safe.
