Middleton Beach to Emu Point

Starting from the car park at the end of Flinders Parade, Seppings, this walk takes you to Emu Point and back via the Middleton Beach Shared Path. The Middleton Beach Shared Path is a dual pathway for walkers and cyclists running adjacent to the beachfront with stunning coastal views. The good bitumen undulating path meanders alongside Middleton Beach through peppermint trees, with a number of pathways leading off the main path to the water's edge. There are several lookouts and seats along the way to view the beach, with the Albany Golf Course on the opposite side. This is a versatile walk that can be done in either direction. The path is sealed throughout its entire length, being suitable for prams and wheelchairs. The path is a shared by walkers and cyclists, so consideration has to be taken for other users. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the car park at the end of Flinders Parade, head towards the singular paved walking/cycling track along the car park. Head along the said track as you keep the beach to your right and the golf course to your left to continue along the Middleton Beach to Emu Point Track.....

	Start. There is a toilet (about 100 m back from the start). There is a car park (about 50 m back from the start). Find the bicycle barrier at the start. After 120 m find the "Middleton Beach" (110 m on your right). Middleton Beach One of Albany's most stunning seascapes, Middleton Beach has become one of the most popular beaches in the area. Protected from the waves of the ocean, this beach is a great place for swimming and snorkelling. There are volleyball courts, barbecues, a picnic area, a jetty and even a pub. The beach is 5 kilometres long, so you'll probably find a somewhat secluded spot to set up. You can fish from the jetty as you watch the sunset. Try to spot the granite islands; Breaksea and Michaelmas. After another 1.4 km continue straight, to head along Middleton Beach Shared Path.
	The starting point of an alternate access track. An alternate access point from/to Barry Court. Details below. After another 175 m continue straight, to head along Middleton Beach Shared Path.
	After another 170 m veer left, to head along Middleton Beach Shared Path. After another 880 m continue straight. After another 380 m pass the playground (70 m on your left). After another 60 m pass a seat (on your left). After another 25 m pass the toilet (20 m on your left). After another 70 m pass the water tap (on your left). After another 110 m continue straight. Then pass the car park (5 m on your left). After another 50 m pass the BBQ (30 m on your left). After another 65 m continue straight. After another 200 m pass the car park (10 m on your left). After another 30 m come to a BBQ. About 65 m past the end is a toilet. About 105 m past the end is "Emu Point Beach". Emu Point Beach Officially rated as one of the cleanest beaches in Western Australia, Emu Point Beach is located a few kilometres from Albany. The plentiful shade provided by the trees along with the shallow waters, make this place a great destination for families. Keep in mind that the beach is also accessible by wheelchair (with a beach-access wheelchair if you'd like to make your way on the soft sand). About 70 m past the end is "Emu Point Cafe". Emu Point Cafe The wonderful ocean-side Emu Point Cafe is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a light lunch and coffee looking out over the water.
	Turn around here and retrace the main route for 3.7 km to get back to the start.
