Savannah Walk

Starting from Windjana Gorge car park, Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges, this walk takes you on a circuit, visiting Windjana Gorge along the way. This walk is a great opportunity to experience the savannah habitat. You can traverse between tall grass and observe big termite mounds that are scattered along the path before visiting Windjana Gorge, which is a River-cut gorge through a Devonian-era reef. You can also spot seed-eating finches, parrots and agile wallabies along with snakes and reptiles. The walk is relatively flat with gentle hilly sections, and the surface is either compacted or hardened. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the Windjana Gorge car park (off Fairfield-Leopold Downs Road), head towards the picnic table near the bollard along the dirt path. Pass through the bollard and pass by the said picnic table (to your left), then head towards the slanted signpost as you move directly away from the car park. Pass by the said signpost and head along the wide dirt trail. 80 metres in, turn right at the 3-way intersection. About 60 metres later, turn left at the 3-way intersection to continue along the Savannah Walk (clockwise).....

	Start heading along Time Walk. Windjana Gorge National Park (about 65 m back from the start). There is a fee to use this campsite. Windjana Gorge NP (about 30 m back from the start). Find the toilet at the start. After 100 m pass the sign (7 m on your left).
	At the intersection of Savannah Walk & Time Walk turn right, to head along Savannah Walk.
	After another 70 m turn left, to head along Savannah Walk. After another 940 m come to the "Windjana Gorge National Park" (about 25 m ahead). There is a fee to use this campsite.
	Turn sharp right, to head along Savannah Walk. After another 255 m continue straight, to head along Savannah Walk.
	After another 70 m (at the intersection of Time Walk & Savannah Walk) turn left, to head along Time Walk.
	After another 75 m come to the end.
