The starting point of an optional sidetrip. This optional side trip takes you to the western peak of Mount Barney. Take this side trip if you have spare time(at least an hour) to conquer both peaks in one hike! To start this optional side trip continue straight here. On returning from this side trip veer left when you get back to this intersection. Details below.
After another 50 m (at the intersection of Western Summit Track & Eastern Summit Track) veer left, to head along Peasants Ridge (South Ridge).
After another 50 m come to the "Rum Jungle".

After another 2.5 km (at the intersection of Peasants Ridge (South Ridge) & Mezzanine Ridge) continue straight, to head along Peasants Ridge (South Ridge).
After another 920 m (at the intersection of Upper Logan Road & Cronan Creek Trail) continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road (a vehicle track).
After another 245 m (at the intersection of Upper Logan Road & Old South East Ridge) continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road.
After another 240 m come to the "Forestry".
