Mount Barney East Circuit

Starting from the Yellow Pinch Carpark, this circuit walk takes you to the eastern peak of Mount Summit via the South East Ridge Track, then descends via the Peasants Ridge Track, visiting multiple lookouts and campsites along the way. If you want to have a challenging experience that’ll reward you with an exceptional experience throughout, this is a must-do hike for you. Explore the eucalypt forest as you make your way up the South Ridge and enjoy the scenery as it gets better and better. Stop and savor the unimpeded 360 views from the peak, you have earned them. The dense forest teems with wildlife, and you can come across a picturesque view of colourful wildflowers at any time. There are multiple campsites on track for you to make this a multi-day journey(Rum Jungle, Forestry, Burbank etc.). Note that the track involves lots of technical rock scrambling, and is recommended only for experienced hikers in groups. Hiking poles can help you a lot during the descent, and grippy trekking shoes are a must. Start real early if you aren’t planning to stay the night. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From Yellow Pinch Carpark on Upper Logan Road(320 metres southwest of crossing over Logan River), head towards the gate along the dirt path, moving directly away from the toilet(s). Head around/over the gate and continue on Upper Logan Road as it meanders down south for about 1.02kms(1020 metres), then turn right at the intersection to join the South East Ridge Track. Stay on the said track as it leads you deeper into the woodland to continue along Mount Barney East Circuit(counterclockwise).....

	Start heading along Upper Logan Road.
	After another 20 m (at the intersection of Yellow Pinch Trail & Upper Logan Road) continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road. There is a toilet (about 115 m back from the start). This toilet is male and female. After 115 m pass the "Mt Barney Trails". After another 25 m head through/around the gate. After another 620 m head through/around the gate. After another 4 m (at the intersection of Yellow Pinch Trail & Upper Logan Road) continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road.
	After another 330 m (at the intersection of Upper Logan Road & South East Ridge) turn right, to head along South East Ridge (a walking track). After another 70 m pass the "South East Ridge Summit Route" (on your left). After another 115 m cross the ford. After another 1.4 km (at the intersection of South East Ridge & Old South East Ridge) continue straight, to head along South East Ridge. After another 2 km (at the intersection of Logans Ridge & South East Ridge) continue straight, to head along Logans Ridge. After another 35 m come to the viewpoint (9 m on your right). After another 35 m come to the "Mount Barney East Peak".
	After another 6 m (at the intersection of Eastern Summit Track & Mezzanine Ridge) continue straight, to head along Eastern Summit Track. After another 700 m come to the "Old Hut Site". 	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. This optional side trip takes you to the western peak of Mount Barney. Take this side trip if you have spare time(at least an hour) to conquer both peaks in one hike! To start this optional side trip continue straight here. On returning from this side trip veer left when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 50 m (at the intersection of Western Summit Track & Eastern Summit Track) veer left, to head along Peasants Ridge (South Ridge). After another 50 m come to the "Rum Jungle". After another 2.5 km (at the intersection of Peasants Ridge (South Ridge) & Mezzanine Ridge) continue straight, to head along Peasants Ridge (South Ridge). After another 920 m (at the intersection of Upper Logan Road & Cronan Creek Trail) continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road (a vehicle track). After another 40 m pass the "South Ridge Summit Route". After another 245 m (at the intersection of Upper Logan Road & Old South East Ridge) continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road. After another 530 m cross the ford (about 25 m long) After another 110 m head through/around the gate. After another 15 m continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road. After another 810 m (at the intersection of Upper Logan Road & South East Ridge) continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road.
	After another 330 m (at the intersection of Upper Logan Road & Yellow Pinch Trail) continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road. After another 640 m pass the "Mt Barney Trails". After another 8 m (at the intersection of Upper Logan Road & Yellow Pinch Trail) continue straight, to head along Upper Logan Road.
	After another 20 m come to the end.

This optional side trip takes you to the western peak of Mount Barney. Take this side trip if you have spare time(at least an hour) to conquer both peaks in one hike!
