Zig-Zag Railway Walk

With a steam train ride from the end of the walk back to the start, the Zig-Zag Railway Walk is a very interesting one. Climbing to the ridges above the railway, this walk offers walkers the opportunity to watch the train as it puffs and hoots it's way from Clarence Station to Bottom Points Station. And that's even before you have a chance to get on the train and rest all the way back to the start, or alternatively retrace your steps back. Let us begin by acknowledging the Wiradjuri people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the station car park, this walk heads across the railway tracks to the picnic tables and information signs saying 'Zig-Zag Railway', next to the railway station. From here, the walk turns and heads behind the buildings and parallel to the old railway tracks. After a short while, the track comes to an intersection with a management trail on the right, that heads away from the railway tracks.....

	Start. Find the car park at the start. Find the toilet at the start. After another 35 m continue straight.
	After another 35 m veer right.
	After another 215 m continue straight.
	After another 245 m veer left.
	After another 285 m (from the Zig Zag Walk) veer left, to head along Zig Zag Walk (a walking track).
	After another 145 m (from the Zig Zag Walk) veer left, to head along Zig Zag Walk.
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. Side trip to a viewpoint with southerly views. To start this optional side trip turn left here. On returning from this side trip veer left when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 600 m (from the Zig Zag Walk) continue straight, to head along Zig Zag Walk. After another 740 m come to the viewpoint (about 8 m ahead).
	From the Zig Zag Walk turn right, to head along Zig Zag Walk.
	After another 275 m (from the Zig Zag Walk) continue straight (a service road). Continue another 15 m to find the end. Then turn around here and retrace the main route for 2.6 km to get back to the start.
