Gortex Tape Sealing tip

Had a couple of areas on both my Gortex Coat and overpants where the seam seal tape was lifting a little at the edges and remembered reading somewhere that going over them with a medium hot iron would fix this ,did it the other day and it does work

Medium/low heat iron is actually good for your jacket, not only does it reseal some of those seams, it also revitalizes the membrane. Also low heat tumble dry is quite effective. I have done this to my Hydronaut jacket and it has given it much better waterproofness than it once had.

Just gotta jump in with a nitpick - the low iron or tumble dryer will revive the DWR (durable, water resistant) outer treatment that is standard on GoreTex and other waterproof gear. Nothing revives the membrane and that shouldn't degrade significantly over time anyway. The points that eventually wear out on GTX etc jackets are the seam sealing (as mentioned above) and the DWR coating (as well as zips, velcro and other fixtures.)

Knew about the DWR revival and have done it with several Jackets thanks, just never tried it on the inside seams before.
