Adventure Designs Sleeping Bag (One Planet)

Hi, I'm after some info on this bag, such as packed size and weight.
I was told Aurora is a Australian company that went broke a few years ago.

I been offered one of these bags in good condition for $70.00.

Any photos would be great, and what temps you think this bag will be good for?

Car camping sleeping bag a little too heavy for the warmth rating ( +5 C ) and maybe a little too dear, I remember seeing these but I have never slept in one, I would be surprised if the down/feather mix was better than 400 loft tho
mind you this is a personal opinion and others may differ

I purchased the bag today and I'm very happy with it. The bag only weighs 1kg according to the tag on the bag, I don't have access to a scale to confirm this. Tag on bag has Adventure Designs on it, made in New Zealand. The tag also has PO Box 438, Flemington, Victoria, and PO Box 22-121, Christchurch, New Zealand. Zips are YKK.

Thanx for letting us know the weight, if you give us some feedback in the future it may help others with their decision making when contemplating a reserve bag, maybe for the boot of the car.

I slept in the bag last night, I'm staying at Sydney, was not a very cold night, but cool enough to try out the bag. I was very warm in the bag, I had to unzip the bag last night and just lay it over me.

I think this bag will do me fine for nearly all my travels. Combine this with my Hilleberg tent and Exped Downmat, most of my bushwalking is in the central and south east coast of QLD, i think this bag is ideal. I would have loved to have picked up a brand new bag, with all the Easter sales on at the moment in Sydney, but my budget will not allow this.

The bag also came with it's own stuff sack, it's a little large, but with some effort can be compressed down to a lot smaller size. Feels light to carry.
It's also has 4 zippers on the bag.

Here's a image with the bag in it's stuff sack showing a comparison size against my size 12 hiking boot. I'm a bit wary of the claims of only being 1kilo in weight, I think it might be a bit more than a kilo.

OK, thanx for the photos, I have an old MD bag very similar; nice for summer when you may just want a quilt.
Give the quality warning on the label I would guess that the warmth of the finished bag could vary a lot, i hope you got the bag with the quality down in it

I finally found more info on this bag.

I was given false info on the bag when I purchased it. I was told it was a Aurora Brand bag as the heading on this topic suggests, but this is not the case. I known something was not right, because I was told the bag is 800 gram weight, it's actually just over 1kg. As you can see in the images above, there's no mention of a Aurora brand on the bag apart from the stuff sack supplied with the bag. Obviously this stuff sack belonged to a different bag.

Further research into this bag today, I came upon a site that mentions Adventure Designs is owned by One Planet in Melbourne.
I just got of the phone to One Planet in Melbourne to see if this is so, and it's true.
This bag was manufactured in New Zealand with quality down, Date of Manufacture is Feb 2000. It's called a Olga.
The Olga is a -4 bag. This particular bag is still made today with slightly thicker down, because that's what people like now, it's now called a Bungle 550 RRP $339.00

I picked up myself a very good buy. Was given some great advice on the care and cleaning of the bag by One Planet.

You would not think this bag is over 11 years old, It's in mint condition. Lofts up perfectly, is very warm to sleep in, I been putting it to the test of late with the colder weather where having now, Zipped up it's hot, sleeping with the zips undone so I don't melt. One Planet told me it's a perfect bag for my climate.

Pretty good weight for an older bag of that rating. My 5 year old Mont bag rated to about the same weighs around 1.5kg. Sounds like you got a good deal.
