January 2011 competitions delayed [split]

Never mind any changes, what has happened with the current competitions? I hope all the site admin are ok and weren't off walking because they'll be would have got very cold.

Just because one part of Tasmania is cold, doesn't mean the rest of Tasmania is. Actually it was very weird. We had VERY warm north easterlies on Saturday, with other parts of the state getting cold south westerlies. That warm strong wind felt really strange.

But back to the topic at hand...

There has been a glitch in the system which has lost one of the photos (it appears that it didn't get saved to disk at all). I'm giving the entrant a couple more days to email it back to me, but I think that person is currently away, and has probably not got my message yet. I'll give them a couple more days, but then I'll probably have to end up going ahead without them.

Sorry for the delay. I also need to fix the system in order to prevent this problem from happening again (ie, check to see that the photo is correctly saved to disk before confirming the entry, otherwise throw up an error to the user).

You should know that we need our fix of entertainment asap. And it's always interesting to see where everyone has been in the previous month.

heheh... he should be happy with the box he's being kept in!

I've now added some additional checks to the relevant script to check for the existence of the image files to complete the entry. I'm not convinced this was the cause of the issue, however. I've also doubled the amount of RAM the script will attempt to reserve for itself, in case memory usage was a cause of the problem.

Unfortunately, the person is away walking, and has been unable to receive my messages, by email, PM or SMS (through somebody else that has their phone number). Even if they do get the messages, it turns out that they're unlikely to have easy access to their photos back home, so I'm going to have to post the polls with one photo missing.
