Stove Fuel for the Overland Track

Postby Drifting » Tue 01 Jun, 2010 12:40 am

I've read a lot of questions on here about where to get fuel for stoves when you've just gotten off the ferry/airplane and are trying to make it to Cradle Mountain early. I just thought I'd mention that I discovered today that my local hardward store, the Sheffield Shed, sells primus four-season mix gas bottles for $6 each. They open at 8:30am, and are in Sheffield, so you probably wouldn't have to wait for long if you'd just gotten off the ferry. You can get their number via Google, and they are right in town.

Anyhow, I have no business connection with them, and just thought I'd let people know that there's another source of gas on the way to Cradle Mtn and the Walls of Jerusalem that has a bit better hours than the local camping supply stores.

Cheers!

Sheffield Shed.
Link complete with address, phone number, map and a photo of the building (street view).

I was just in there again- they sell a range of primus gas stuff, including compact stoves, but I'd call and order anything you needed ahead.

The store at the parks office at Cradle Valley has gas - but it would be wise to telephone ahead.
