TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Check out this new Switch product from Quirky. It's a configurable multitool thingy. The product is in it's final stages of development so you can only pre-order it at this stage.

Quirky develop products based on user-contributed ideas. If you've got an idea for a great bushwalking-related product but don't have the know-how and resources to design, produce and market it yourself then this might be a way you can turn your idea into reality.

Since I am also an apple fanboy I first heard about quirky when I read about the iPad case they have developed:

Hi flatfoot,

The switch is a very nice idea, I can see it being useful.

Yeah, but will they provide the "quarter" to tighten it with for those of us outside the US? :)

Very cool idea. I thought that looked like a USB thumb-drive in one of those pictures, so I checked out the link you posted and sure enough, one of the items in the kit is: 1GB USB Memory Stick

A build-your-own swiss army knife is a sure winner!

I don't think I have a need for such a thing myself, though.

I'll stick with my Leatherman.
Gerber make a really nice looking lightweight multitool. Can't remember what it's called though.
