Hi all
After having a look at the weather forecast Monday afternoon (and seeing that Tuesday's forecast was 'sunny' whilst the rest of the week was showers/cloudy), I rang a friend to table the idea of going for a day walk the following day (my mate is about to leave the state to work away from home for about 6 weeks and was keen to go on a walk before leaving). So just over 12 hours later, I picked him up at 5.30am and we headed off to the Walls of Jerusalem.
Heading into an area where ideally you would like to wander around for a few days, we decided to march straight through to Mount Jerusalem and then take our time wandering around before heading out at the end of the day. We hit the track at 7am and were sitting on Mount Jerusalem at 10:20; after spending an hour or so on top we walked back through Dixon's Kingdom and then onto Solomons Throne where we sat for lunch for another hour or so. We had spectacular 360 degree views seeing as far as Ben Lomond in the east and Frenchmans Cap towards the South West. All the peaks from the north to south of the overland track stood spectacularly and provided for a relaxing afternoon.......although it was a struggle to decide whether to enjoy the views in this direction or to turn around and face back in to the 'Walls' and look over the West Wall!
I was in awe of the beauty of the WOJ and will definitely be heading back in there at another stage to spend a few days exploring. From the base of Solomons Throne, it only took us a further 2 hours to get back to the car; all in all not an overly challenging walk in terms of climbs etc but a thoroughly enjoyabel one!
Now onto a couple of the photos............(sorry about the quality of some of the panoramas; once I compressed them they lost the quality big time!!)
