Spring gathering at Mt Franklin

Postby Moondog55 » Mon 18 May, 2015 8:44 am

The meet and greet was such good fun that we all agreed another group get together would be an excellent idea.
Late October / Early November

Poll starts now and ends in 90 days
Melbourne Cup week-end will probably be busy but a good time

Hey Moondog

You might possibly find that people would want to go out walking on an extended break like 4 days of the Cup weekend- especially as many areas will have been closed to vehicular access for Winter and recently reopened.
It will be interesting to see how the poll pans out. The 23,24,25th of October might appeal to people because it allows for a weekend at home, before the 4 day break, when the extra padding from fine cuisine two weeks' prior- can be walked off!

Cheers

I agree with Wildlights thinking and have noticed that depending on where one goes, at least some areas in the bush seem to be a bit quieter on the W/e before Cup W/e. Perhaps people stay home so close to the four day break and save themselves for the long w/e. The four day break does make travel a bit easier for anyone not reasonably local.

I can make any of the three.

We may still be in America on the first date so i pick the later and for us having the extra time would make it a very lazy break

All in that powdered stock, so no need to fuss around although I can bring fresh thyme and bay leaves ect to the next gathering if people think it's really important

It sounds like you had a great time last time, so although I'm very new here at present I'm hoping I can make it to the gathering in the spring! If I don't have transport, is there any chance someone could pick me up from a PT accessible town nearby? (Maybe daylesford?)

I'm just joking with you Mooddog...one chef to another (in a previous life)...I was impressed with the demo of the caramelisation/sauteing process. Been out of that game for 25 years...it's a very demanding trade.

I would have asked "Where's the chopped parsley"
I'm not asking opinions of what soup to bring next gathering
it will be Curried tomato and Barley

Hmmmmmmmm...I think Chicken Noodle Soup is mandatory. Especially if we make it gluten free.

Cecile and I may not be able to come, this renovation has sucked both the life and the money from both of us and it is too far for a day trip

Hi MD, I am not sure if anyone went in the end. I was sick all last week and over the weekend so I didn't even post that we weren't going to make it. Why don't we look for a date early next year and try to generate some interest...

Hey Sim1oz / Moondog55;
How about 16th and 17th of Jan, 2016? Most ppl are back at work, plus it doesn't creep in on a long weekend.
cheers

We can't do the 16-17 Jan as we already have a paddling trip planned. I'll start another poll to see if we can find a summer or autumn date that suits 3+ posters. Once the date is locked in for a few of us (MD, be optimistic!!!) then others can drop by or come at the last minute, knowing that it is happening.

From my perspective, the more the merrier. It was really great to meet people and put faces to forum names. The April one was lots of fun :D

March and May are both written off for me, am interstate for both of those months.

How does Feb sound? Yes, it's likely to be hot- but we're vehicle based, not hauling things up mountains!

Cheers
