repairing tent poles

Wanted ask some suggestions as to how other people repair tent poles?? I've broken a tent pole at the join and it's not covered by a warranty. Not sure how to approach this challenge...

Pole repair kits are designed as a temporary fix.
Once you get home you are meant to replace the broken section with a new one.
Some tent manufacturers can sell you a spare section or you get them from your nearest outdoor repair shops (just google say "Melbourne outdoor gear repairs" )
Most poles are easy enough to take apart and put back again, Just pull off the tip and undo the knot on the shock cord there
BTW, when a pole breaks at the end it means it was not fully inserted into the ferrule of the next section. Otherwise they break in the middle.

It's not in the spirit of light, nor would it be sanctioned by the tent pole manufacturer, but I had one break in what sounds the same place and I got some of this http://www.selleys.com.au/putty/epoxy/k ... i-purpose/ and wrapped it around the split after pushing the split edges together. Not sure if that's similar to what you've done, but it's an idea. Has held together perfectly for years.

I snapped a tent pole in the Pyrenees once. Most embarrassing. I scratched around and found an old sardine can - Aha! Cut out the flat section and rolled a sleeve as tight as I could, and tied that up tightlywith string and tent repair fabric. It lasted a long time.

I trod on a pole once while stumbling around pitching the tent with a migraine building to black-out stage.
No repair kit so used some heavy-duty bandaids to attach a stick that was curved roughly the right amount for where it was broken. It held for the rest of the walk, which is all that mattered.

I not so cleverly tried to move my tent one time, while it was filled with gear, by picking it up by the poles. Snap! I was able to use a tent peg, the kind with a round cross section, suitably modified with a rock, to stuff inside each side of the jagged broken pole. Bomber. I actually considered leaving it that way permanently but a replacement section from the tent manufacturer was pretty cheap.
