Um, cold!
Pretty cranky aren't they. I've taken close ups of ice in tarns and puddles on tracks before, but I can't remember ever using the macro.
Great find, interesting detail.

I'm not all that keen on Nikon, but there's a few cameras they make I'd gladly buy

No snow- lots of ice, but it was melting around lunchtime. I was back up there today, hoping to catch the sunrise I missed by 20 minutes yesterday, but there was low cloud cover. Perfect for waterfall photos though.

Weather's been quite good, and the park has been almost empty. I spent two hours photographing the falls at the lodge from the bridge, and never once did anyone walk past, other than a couple when I first got there. I walked about 1 km onto the Dove Lake circuit and then came back at dawn- there was once person other than me there. And at Pencil Pine falls around 10pm I had about an hour to myself.

I'm 45 minutes away. It's my backyard playground. In the 10 months we've lived here we've been there AT LEAST 50 times. We go up for coffees when we feel like a drive, and it's my photographic spot of choice, as you can imagine.

Nice shots camera_poser, I like them. Macro opens a whole new world and ice offers endless and fascinating variety. I always carry at least one macro lens and extension tubes on walks. I've used longer lenses (like 100mm in 35mm format) but I was constantly disappointed by camera shake in the images even with sturdy tripod and MLU. Shorter lenses seem to work better for me - smaller, lighter and less prone to camera shake. I sometimes use a 35mm TS with extension tube - close-up with tilt, nice.

I'm constantly frustrated on walks, I find most of the beauty of Tas in the minuscule and minute details. I'm always trying to capture these 'moments' but my Olympus C-460 ZOOOOM just lets me down every time.
Mind you my framing is equisite
I have a $100K edit suite and a $50 camera....must prioritise.
Meanwhile I will live vicariously through you guys.
