Vestibule for Zpacks hexamid twin/solo

I'm enjoying my hexamid twin, but would like a vestibule option. Has anyone made one that works well as vestibule/verandah etc? I've got some fabric, but, before designing something, it'd be nice to know whether it as lready been done!

Not sure if the concept is compatible with the hexamid twin, but the Hyperlite Mountain Gear Echo II has a detachable/optional vesibule. It's a completely separate piece that you attach after the tarp/tent is pitched.
Maybe you could rig up something simlar to fit the hexamid?

If you think this might work, or give you some ideas anyway,I can set ours up (weather permitting) on the weekend and take some more detailed pics.

Have you emailed Joe and asked him?
Also ( you probably have done it), ask on BPL, and maybe even Franco could offer his infinite wisdom?
If you have the fabric/tape etc, then I would suggest you just go ahead and start trying out some designs using mock up materials. Nothing like R&D!

Apart from the still dead ex-Spanish dictator , the other Franco I kow of has never anything new ta say.
Anyway for what is worth years ago I suggested a lighter (simpler) version of those vestibules to BD , it went down like the proverbial lead balloon..
OK, I'll do some thinking....
(BTW, right now it is the busiest time for them US Cottage manufacturers . Oct/Nov are good months for this kind of questions)

I had just landed here after reading a similar comment about a BD tent at Backpackers and assumed it was the same OP...
I had a play with the Hexamid and did not like the design at all so never put much thought into that.

With the Hexamid, you really need to buy the fly version (without the netting floor but with the beak) and add in a net inner like the SMD Serenity. This gives you a bug free sleeping space and a reasonable vestibule. Increased cost of this sort of setup is $20, increased weight is minimal once you factor in a groundsheet for the standard hexamid with net floor. I am very happy with this setup but plan to do a couple of minor mods to get the net inner to hang a little better. (I used to use the net inner with a SMD Gatewood Cape)

Yes - that is what I have. Its a good combination. You can just use the hexamid with a light groundsheet (when there are no mossies), or just the netting and cuben floor (when there are mossies but no rain), or use both. The inner clips into the hexamid very easily and quickly.
