Really just a matter of learning how to pack one, I notice the "Pull-back' more with a poorly packed internal frame than I ever do with an external frame.
I have managed to carry much more weight and bulk comfortable with a really good framed pack than I would ever attempt with an internally framed pack. Biggest load I ever carried was 3 jerrycans of petrol on my old CampTrails frame with the load shelf and with my stuff as well although it was only a short hike of about 8 k's
Don't confuse a "REAL" frame with the Australian Armys torture racks, Ever tried to carry a "10" Set with 2 spare batteries plus all your gear. No wonder my back is buggered.
Alice frame isn't all that bad either but not designed to hip load
