Getting started
From the top of the station, this walk heads towards the shops, down the stairs and to the road next to Gordon Station bus depot.
From Gordon Station bus depot, this walk heads up the hill of St Johns Ave to the Pacific Highway. The walk crosses to the other side at the pedestrian crossing. From here, this walk follows the shop fronts up the Pacific Highway, then turns left onto Moree St. This street is followed until the walk turns right onto Vale St. This walk continues along Vale St for a short time to the intersection with the bush track on the left of the street.....

	After another 105 m (at the intersection of Pacific Highway & Moree Street) turn left, to head along Moree Street (a residential road).
	After another 40 m continue straight, to head along Moree Street.
	After another 270 m (at the intersection of Moree Street & Hanson Way) continue straight, to head along Moree Street.
	After another 340 m (at the intersection of Vale Street & Moree Street) turn right, to head along Vale Street.
	After another 85 m (at the intersection of Vale Street & Blackbutt Creek Track) turn left, to head along Blackbutt Creek Track (a vehicle track).
	After another 25 m continue straight, to head along Blackbutt Creek Track. After another 30 m head through/around the gate.
	After another 390 m veer left, to head along Blackbutt Creek Track.
	After another 30 m continue straight, to head along Blackbutt Creek Track. After another 40 m cross the ford.
	After another 1.3 km turn right, to head along Blackbutt Creek Track. After another 10 m cross the ford. After another 105 m head through/around the gate.
	At the intersection of Lady Game Drive & Blackbutt Creek Track turn left, to head along Lady Game Drive (a highway\|tertiary).
	After another 360 m (at the intersection of De Burgh Road & Lady Game Drive) turn right, to head along De Burgh Road (a residential road).
	After another 15 m continue straight, to head along De Burgh Road.
	After another 235 m (at the intersection of Beaumont Road & De Burgh Road) turn right, to head along Beaumont Road.
	After another 100 m (at the intersection of Beaumont Road & Manning Road) continue straight, to head along Beaumont Road.
	After another 540 m turn right. After another 30 m head into the "Allen Park". After another 480 m find the "Allen Park" (on your left). Allen Park Allen Park is a very small grassed clearing at the end of Blaxland Rd. The park is not shaded and backs onto a house. The park is a thoroughfare to access the Great North Walk from Blaxland Rd.
	Turn left, to head along The Great North Walk. After another 30 m pass the sign (8 m on your right). Then head down the 5 steps (about 2 m long) After another 285 m cross the ford. After another 165 m find the "Sandstone caves" (15 m on your right). Sandstone caves This fairly large sandstone overhang is found on the eastern side of the Lane Cove Valley. The walking track leads through the two caves that run in series, with the northern cave being larger. The lip of the overhang hangs down a bit, providing some extra protection from wind and rain. The cave also provide some shade and a cooler spot on hot days, and there are also a couple of well placed boulders forming nice seats. Then come to the viewpoint. After another 65 m cross the bridge (about 4 m long) After another 450 m come to the viewpoint. After another 630 m head down the 11 steps (about 8 m long) After another 8 m cross the bridge (about 15 m long) After another 115 m cross the bridge (about 5 m long) After another 45 m cross the bridge (about 7 m long)
	After another 90 m continue straight, to head along The Great North Walk. After another 140 m pass the sign (on your left). Then cross the bridge (about 8 m long) Then head up the 26 steps (about 20 m long) After another 55 m head up the 7 stone steps (about 3 m long) Then cross the bridge After another 200 m cross the ford. After another 130 m cross the bridge (about 5 m long)
	The starting point of an alternate route. An alternative route linking Int. Great North Walk and Thistlethwaytes Picnic Area Trk to Int. National Parks Office Trk and Max Allen Dr. To take the alternate route continue straight here. Details below. After another 315 m continue straight, to head along The Great North Walk.
	After another 410 m (at the intersection of Lane Cove Depot Road & The Great North Walk) veer left, to head along Lane Cove Depot Road (a service road).
	After another 15 m (at the intersection of Lane Cove Depot Road & The Great North Walk) continue straight, to head along The Great North Walk (a walking track).
	After another 120 m continue straight, to head along The Great North Walk.
	After another 290 m (at the intersection of Max Allen Road & The Great North Walk) continue straight, to head along Max Allen Road (a vehicle track). After another 30 m pass the "Great North Walk" (on your left).
	After another 25 m continue straight, to head along Max Allen Road. After another 90 m pass the sign (25 m on your right).
	The alternate route finishes here. Turn right to rejoin the main route at the 7.9 km waypoint. Details below. After another 15 m continue straight, to head along Max Allen Road. After another 55 m find the "Picnic Table" (10 m on your right). Picnic Table Two timber slat picnic tables. The table is 79cm high, 73cm deep and 3.3m wide. The seats are 46cm high, 44cm deep and 2.7m wide (no backrest). Room for a few chairs at end. 4x2.7m slab. After another 15 m find the "BBQ" (15 m on your right). BBQ Two free electric BBQs hotplates in sheltered picnic area. The BBQ table is 92cm high, 2.05m wide and 75cm deep. Hot plates are 45/45cm.
	Continue straight, to head along Max Allen Road. Then cross the bridge (about 15 m long) After another 10 m pass the "The Great North Walk" (15 m on your left).
	After another 1 m continue straight, to head along Max Allen Road. After another 50 m head through/around the gate.
	At the intersection of Lady Game Drive & Max Allen Road turn right, to head along Lady Game Drive (a highway\|tertiary).
	After another 115 m continue straight, to head along Lady Game Drive. After another 30 m cross the bridge (about 20 m long)
	After another 10 m (at the intersection of Lady Game Drive & Blue Gum Creek Walking Track) turn left, to head along Blue Gum Creek Walking Track (a vehicle track). After another 40 m head through/around the gate. After another 380 m head into the "Fullers Park".
	After another 150 m continue straight. After another 40 m pass the "Chatswood Rifle Range" (25 m on your right).
	After another 120 m continue straight.
	After another 210 m continue straight. Then head up the concrete steps (about 65 m long)
	Veer left.
	After another 80 m turn right, to head along Longford Street.
	After another 110 m (at the intersection of Shirley Road & Longford Street) turn left, to head along Shirley Road.
	After another 180 m (at the intersection of Shirley Road & Abingdon Road) veer right, to head along Shirley Road.
	After another 140 m (at the intersection of Toongarah Road & Shirley Road) continue straight, to head along Shirley Road.
	After another 65 m (at the intersection of Shirley Road & Glen Road) continue straight, to head along Shirley Road.
	After another 290 m (at the intersection of Shirley Road & Alston Way) continue straight, to head along Shirley Road.
	After another 205 m (at the intersection of Shirley Road & The Rifleway) turn right, to head along The Rifleway (a footpath).
	After another 185 m (at the intersection of Larkin Street & The Rifleway) continue straight (a steps). Then head up the steps (about 60 m long)
	After another 60 m turn right, to head along Pacific Highway.
	After another 35 m turn left.
	After another 9 m continue straight. After another 35 m cross the bridge
	After another 15 m continue straight.
	After another 9 m come to the end.

	After another 80 m (at the intersection of Max Allen Road & Lane Cove Depot Road) continue straight, to head along Max Allen Road. After another 40 m find the "Schwartz Homestead" (20 m on your left). Schwartz Homestead The Schwartz Homestead is a neat little white and green 1920's timber cottage with a balcony on three sides. It was probably built by orchardist George Warr, who leased the land from 1917.
	Veer left, to head along Max Allen Road. After another 55 m pass the toilet (25 m on your left).
	After another 255 m continue straight, to head along Max Allen Road. After another 10 m pass the car park (10 m on your right).
	After another 7 m continue straight, to head along Max Allen Road. After another 30 m pass the toilet (25 m on your left).
	After another 280 m veer right. After another 180 m pass the toilet (15 m on your left).
	Continue straight.
	After another 45 m continue straight.
	After another 40 m come to the end. About 70 m past the end is a sign. At the end of this alternate route, rejoin the main route.

  NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits and fresh baits containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 August 2024 and 31 January 2025 in Lane Cove National Park. Don’t touch baits. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
