MYOG Shell Mitts

Thu 11 Aug, 2011 2:31 pm

Hi, Anyone know where I can buy eVent fabric. Aust/ Worldwide?
I am planning to make my own mitts.
Seems tobe a simple first project. One face eVent and the other a tuff waterproof fabric . Cut, Sew and seal seams 8)
Plus can not seem to find any simple shell mitts in eVent
I know MLD make some $50 plus delivered.
Maybe this project will lead to more and I will get the MYOG Bug. :D :D :D

Hi Marangaroo,

Good luck with the MYOG project. Please post pics when you're finished.

I'll admit I spent a bit of time hunting for a lightwieght shell mitt myself. Nearly bought a set of MLD mitts.
I ended up buying a set made by Hestra for AUS $100. Expensive but they're quite tough. Not eVent though. The big factor for me was durability.

abceight The Hestra mitts do look quite tough.
I was thinking some Dyneema X Gridstop for durability on the palm.

I definately think it would be durable and light. Not sure about waterproof?? unless you sew it on over the top or get a siliconised version. hmmmmm

I need some shell mitts too so I'd be interested to see how this project comes along :)
Have you found any eVent yet?

Still have found no supply of eVent.
May have to keep an eye out for some cheap eVent gaiters and cut up.
Shame because I just sold a pair I had no use for.
I will report on this project when I get started.

I have some reasonable 2layer Gtex if that would help, but try Rockwoods for the mitten kit

THANKS FOR THE OFFER Moondog55
I have put my myog projects on the back burner at the moment
I have just started back at work after 7 months off with a broken leg.
It has been harder to get back into it and also find time to get my leg and body back to normal.
I will post when I get back to MYOG
