TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Oztrail Starlight Tents - any good?

Mon 12 Jul, 2010 2:05 pm

I was thinking of buying this tent on eBay, but I have no experience with the Oztrail brand.

Has anyone here got one one of these lightweight Oztrail hiking tents, and if so are they any good?

It seems to be quite lightweight at 1.9 kg. I would be using it for 3 season use in SE NSW.

Have not seen them personally, so cant really comment. Have never heard of it being a great brand though. You could probably do better than 1.9kg also.

Personally I wouldn't consider Oztrail for anything other than a cheap-o car camping tent.

Maybe not such an issue for areas of NSW but I wouldn't be putting my trust into an $80 hiking tent in Tasmania.
