Cannot remember if it has been mentioned before but washing it with a small amount of washing powder breaks down the snap crackle and slide
corvus
p.s. it also shrinks a little bit

My only experience with it is building with it - 3 months of snap, crackle and flap, most distressing.
So, do you mean just bundle it up and put it in the washing mashine, or what, I know it's not fragile.

I washed my piece of Tyvek in the washing machine and, while it did soften and take the rattle out of it, it ended up very creased and now I find that dirt, moss, leaves etc. are inclined to cling to it - unlike plastic or tarp groundsheets where, after a couple of shakes they are fairly clean. Next Tyvek sheet I get I'll wash by hand and hope there is enough slide left in it to shed the dirt a bit easier.

I think that Corvus's suggestion is the easiest and at the same time probably the best compromise between getting the Tyvek to lose that metallic sound without taking away most of the "waterproofness".
The front loader washing seems the most aggressive, I have done the top loader and the hand bit and prefer this last.

Apparently scrunching it up also works, see
this post. The whole topic discusses Tyvek further.

As per the
Tyvek by the metre topic, I had some interest from a member, I have sent a PM but it has not been read yet.
My supplier (in Hobart) has a roll that is being held on to, if anyone is interested in buying it to sell to forum members by the metre, PM me.
This post really should have been made in the other topic
