Good guess, but not quite that far.

Good old Eggs.

Between my clue, egg’s clue and nnw’s guess, there it is.

Acropolis?

Thank you.

Trouble is, you draw a line across Fren chmans, Manfred, Guardians, it doesn't take much variation on the angle to put you on just about any summit in that group.
I should have prepped one before answering. Just gimme a sec ...

You punishing us, nnw? Unless there's a signpost I'm missing, it could be one of about 60,000,000 places in Tasmania.
I'm tempted to defy Eggs to find a clue in this one, but of course he will.

There are clues there. It's Dolerite, there's alpine vegetation, an eroded track? It can probably be narrowed to one of merely a few thousand....

Steep descent, pines on the flats and I can see a creek down there ...
There is a signpost not far beyond one edge or another of the shot, and this is a pretty popular route.

I don't know what is out Mt Field East way - but there is some fagus on the flat as well, so lets suggest coming down from Field East?.

Right NP, wrong track.

Ah. That's where I went wrong. I thought it was a random bit of eroded soil. It never entered my head that nnw might be on a track!

May have just been crossing it?

No, I was following it. I do sometimes. Just to make life diffiicult for you.

My first thought was a drop maybe mid way along the Tarn Shelf track. But I could not see anything in my shots and I could not remember the red snow poles along there or a track sign.

Getting closer, eggs. Maybe think about ends rather than middles?

The track type matches the track coming down from Newdegate pass. Just don't remember the layout below.

Yes, I eventually saw the red snow pole too.

It's such a sastisfying feeling to know I can occasionally flummox you. Yes, descending from Newdegate Pass.

I am often flumoxxed.

Should we shelve this one?

Looks like my recollection of Tarn Shelf, which the clue supports.
I can't remember the distant view but probably Tyenna and/or Florentine Peaks?
Mon 24 Oct, 2022 11:24 am
Its meant to be easy and tricky at the same time.
Your recollection is correct.
But the main peak at back is not Tyenna or Florentine...
And where am I?
repeated for page turn:

- Mt Mawson and the Tarn Shelf from the ascent up to Newdegate Pass

Maybe a cheeky one, are you on Newdegate Pass?
Mon 24 Oct, 2022 12:04 pm
Yes - well on the track anyway - and that is Mt Mawson at back

Sorry eggs, I meant the track, you don't look that far up. Mt Mawson makes sense now, I don't know why I didn't look SE.
Next one:

- View from the Split Rock track, probably looking at part of Bastion Bluff on LHS, Meander Forest Reserve via Deloraine

From memory my view from this location is looking at two named features, but neither would be Abels (I think).

I think I saw some burrowing spiders lodging at the start of the track.
