Something a bit different. Where was the person in the photo? You wouldn't catch me there.

They're certainly not walking to Maui!

No indeed! Much closer to home. I was surprised at how fast they moved! Back and forth, back and forth. An evening's entertainment for us.

Looks like they might have recently left Geryon South?

Or heading there from the Foresight. Over to you, Rick.

Frustrating. Part of the brain keeps saying "I know that" and the other part says "do I?"
Rock looks west/southwest. Tyndall area?
Mon 21 Feb, 2022 12:01 pm
Not the Tyndalls, quite a way from there. SW is the right area

I suspect that parts that look to merge are perhaps separated by gaps.
On that assumption it could be the edge of Gallagher Plateau looking back to Schnells

More likely, eggs, the reason it looks so familiar could be that it's the *&%$#! pool I camped next to on eastern Schnells plateau when I did Gallagher. If so, thanks for reminding me.

You were very close eggs, but I'm not on Gallagher, still on Schnells as NNW said!
How long did it take to descend Schnells and climb to Gallagher NNW? -

Full day there and back from the eastern plateau, but I stuffed up the nav on the way out and spent more time in the scrub than necessary (story of my life). Need to stick as close as possible to the watershed on that moraine before turning and dropping into the saddle, or possibly follow steeper and slightly more open ground further south. Return was better.
Part of the problem was that the highest point isn't at the co-ordinates on the list, but a good km or more further SE. Still had time to explore a little, but it was a pretty late return. It's only an hour or so from the eastern Schnells summit to the last pool if you go straight and don't mess about. Would be possible to camp out on Gallagher, although finding water at the moment, considering how dry the SW is, might be tricky. It's very reminiscent of Jubilee; similar rock, vegetation and topography.
So, where was I this lovely day?

Interesting! and yep looks pretty scrubby down in there. You never know I may find myself over there one day... Would be cool to exit over Weld. I was content just to wander around the edge behind that pool Yep, it took about 45 each way from my camp near Schnells East. Water wasn't a problem plenty about up there yesterday.

The mountain I'm climbing shares it's name with a river.

The Needles?
Fri 25 Feb, 2022 4:46 pm
Yes, The Needles. Then we followed it up with Mt Wedge in the afternoon.
Fri 25 Feb, 2022 4:51 pm
Nice work! I went up Wedge, The Sentinels and Field East in a day a couple of years ago!
