Correct. I can recommend the fagus up that way too, well worth the effort

It is. I used the image with the bit of beach so it wasn't too hard, but if I'd known you were around it would have been one without.
btw, that's a really marvellous bit of ridgeline up there. Would be interesting to follow further north.

I read an account somewhere of folk heading north over the Ironbounds
- something about one lying down on the bauera while the others walked over his back to then lie down on the next bit of bauera repeat ad nauseum.

No, the lake in the picture is slightly west of due north of Lake Daphne - maybe 80 or 100 km.
I am standing on the slopes of an Abel.

Nescient Peak is one of those that you only need to go up once in a lifetime I think but the next day on Mt Rogoona was superb.

Pretty sure you're back on the Tyndalls, Eldon Peak at the back, but I can't work the angles because that near knob looks like Huntley Lookout which doesn't make sense ... I hate this game.

Even with the answers I'm still trying to decipher them .
I thought it looked Walls-ish from the start, but then got stuck near Lake Daphne with everyone else .

Definitely not Wylds - in fact the peak in view is not the tallest in the "range".
However, Goon Moor is getting quite close.

Picton. Not Wylds, that peak in view could be the dial, that would make you just a bit north of goon moor?

I am on the same range as Goon Moor - but not very close.
The peak at back is in the Picton group, but not Picton.
The rocky ridge closer in is not part of the range I am on.
