Upper Howqua campsite to Mt Howitt

Postby CaptainC » Sun 02 Dec, 2018 8:08 pm

A group of 7 volunteers from Bushwalking Victoria worked with Nigel from Parks Vic Mansfield to clear the track from the Upper Howqua campsite to Mt Howitt. The track is now clear, although it could do with more brushcutter work. We only had one brushcutter and it broke down near the start and we couldn't fix it.

Good work Captain and crew. Plenty of opportunity to do legal volunteer track work with Parks. When we get so many complaining about how bad tracks are it is nice to see others getting involved to do something constructive to fix the problems.

Well done. Take two whipper snippers next time!. Have look at the Queens spur road next time. The section past the four ways is from all reports now a solid scrub bash. I know the Howqua Feeder track to Mt. Howitt is a major walking route and it seems to be only one from the Upper Howqua area that gets any regular attention in regards to keeping it open.

Are you offering to carry one next time? You have your chainsaw ticket now and that is a big bonus for volunteer work with PV.
