My personal ones. A basic lightweight single thickness canvas or cordura hiking boot with mesh drain holes, rubber treads, optional wide sizings.
Quality all mesh inner tent in old school mosquito weave( as opposed to noseeum) and heavier tub floor.

A tent as well designed as the Scarp with removable corner struts (so it doesn't have to be packed vertically) built with Hilleberg materials and to their standards. Red, of course.

A pack that can hold 80l, carry 20kg+, comfortably fit someone with narrow shoulders, and survive Tasmanian scrub and rock without weighing half a tonne. Even the supposedly women specific packs I've tried don't work well with my narrow shoulders.

Waterproof shorts.

LIghtweight, fully drainable/breathable boots (synthetic).

Properly designed active sunwear for hot and humid conditions, from head to toe. Not the baggy fishing shirts that only fine if you are sitting around in a tinny sinking coldies.

Quality flip top cold weather mitts (fingertip exposed glove underneath) where the mitt holds back really securely for scrambling.

My concerns were are they bushwalking waterproof (i.e. good for days of rain and bushbashing) or more water resistant?

Also, cycling shorts often have a sort of crook leg design which isn't ideal for walking in?

I have used waterproof membrane bike shorts when walking with high gaiters on and there is no difference in performance between them and dedicated walking trousers except they are more awkward to put on over shoes/boots.
They tend to the lightweight but so do many walking trousers brands as well.

Yep, used on several walks and work fine. As they are designed to fit over lycra bibshorts they general have a pretty straightforward design rather than a crook leg style. Look for models that are aimed at the mountain biker such as these or these as they have a looser cut which are more suitable for walking in.
