hey Mr Moderator
Is it SOB ??
Anyway would it be possible to start a Safety discussion page??
The reason I ask is that a very useful link to alpine safety and particularly avalanche safety
has appeared on the local tracks page Victoria
viewtopic.php?f=37&t=26079and it would be good to have these safety topics collected together?
Thanks
John

Not a bad idea.
Often real risk and perceived risks are different and while bushwalking is a very safe passtime there are some risks specific to the activity that do deserve more than passing attention sometimes

Hi John. If there enough support from other members we can look into creating a Safety discussion page. Perhaps it could be something as simple as creating a 'sticky topic'.
Happy to hear thoughts from other members.

If its not too much trouble to run it as a sub, then we can collect some best practices stuff all to one place, from food safety and cooking (stove go boom) through to current info on bugs, injuries.

Good idea, alkthough we'd want some clear guidelines as to what is appropriate to post, otherwise it could easily get bogged down in argument intensive debate over personal practices.

Perhaps a link to weather warnings at the top??

Perhaps a slightly wider remit under the term Technique. This would encompass safety but also things like tent site selection, lnt issues, use of fire etc.
