Do you know what state are they in? Maybe these sites could help you.

http://www.hutsvictoria.org.au/ (Victorian High Country Huts Association)

http://www.khuts.org/ (The Kosciuszko Huts Association)

Yes I do, but that would be giving too much away. Each is rarely visited and the second is not on the maps.

If you like. I thought they both would have been named by now.

Actually, I would'nt have a clue.
I'm confused.
So, do you know what their names are?
At first, I thought perhaps you came across them on a walk, did'nt know what they are called, and was seeking that information here.
Or is it in fact a quiz, and you know the answer? :)

I was a bit confused as well. I thought the OP was asking for advice on where the huts were located. Didn't realise it was another Where is it / Where am I game

Re: Can you name this hut?

I think "Guess which hut this is" might have been clearer. Great idea for another game, though!

Next time just say it's a game... especially if you don't put it in the "games and competitions" section...

Point taken. Yes I do know the name of each hut. But as they are each rarely visited and the second one is not shown on most maps I thought I would see if anyone recognised them. If they are still unidentified by tomorrow I will drop a clue or two.

Hi Kanangra,

Could the first hut be Tantangara Mountain Hut.

I have XC skiied to the first hut for morning tea. Fairly close to the Snowy Mountains Highway, where we parked, about 2km or less S of Kiandra, and heading into the back country on the E side of the highway. The patterned glass, though pretty, does not allow for a view out of one of two rooms.

Veeery Cool Kanangra, I like your style.
I think this is a very good thread, that can easily usurp other inadequate websites.
This thread can become the searchable authority on huts. And It is updated daily.

So, who's go is it?

I doubt it, most information is already on Khuts

I note Vickery's Hut is also marked on OSM. It's no secret.

The key word here is most. That is the inadequate site I was referring to. The collective knowledge of huts on this site now surpasses all others.
We just need that knowledge to be searchable, and those that were supposed to be maintaining Khuts can officially resign.

A forum is not the right medium for making encyclopedic information avaliable.

If by knowledge you mean that of the users, then I'll agree.

e.g.

Bogong jack Hut:
http://www.khuts.org/the-huts-v2-5/vict ... saddle-hut
http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/t ... 1010280041

Both have more information in a much easier format than :
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=bogo ... shwalk.com

But by all means feel free to use this site's wiki.

Icefest, I'm really not interested in an argument for argument's sake.
My point was, the collective knowledge of members here far exceeds that of Khuts, it just needs to be searchable.

Re: Can you name this hut?

Tony is right on both counts. Until recently I hadn't visited either hut even though they are both less than an hours walk from a major highway. Whilst Tantangara Hut (also known as Harvey's No.2) is marked on the 1:25,000 toppo Vickery's isn't. I was more curious to know how well they were known by members of this site.

A big claim, but otoh, why not provide that info to khuts so that they can make their (searchable) database more comprehensive?
