End of day shoes

Never heard of Vivobarefoot before but they look interesting way more stylish than my trusty crocs that's for sure! I see they have a lot of ventilation more than crocs even. Had my crocs on trip through WOJ last December and can't say they were great in the snow and rain, though they are fine for our WA weather. That would probably put me off the Vivobarefoot as a camp shoe at least because longer walks tend to be in Tasmania. What does everyone else use for cold/wet weather or do you just give camp shoes a miss and flop around in unlaced boots?

Not sure about wearing the pah tempes with socks tho Phil.....brings back some /cringe memories of bearded lecturers in shorts and socks and sandals

So comfy and dont look like a plastic croc shoe when on. People ask me where I got them all the time. My first pair lasted a year and a half and were promptly replaced by another pair.

I just hang my crocs off the pack so bulk is not an issue

I am wearing them walking in the Sydney city center the other day and in Katoomba for the past couple of days, without socks.

i think the good thing about crocs is that you can use them as water crossing shoes as well.. some of the other options would take ages to dry if they got wet.

I like the idea of the Merrell Barefot Water Rapid Glove. Lightweight, packs away, dries quickly and would be great for river crossings (grip).

I wear Croc Santa Cruz "loafers" which being fabric on the top rather than "plastic" fold down reasonably well. They also are my town shoes if I walk or ride into a town.

Crocs proved there weight in gold. A few years ago we had a heavy snowfall in Victoria in early November. My feet were cold and wet, dry socks, 2 x bread bags and a pair of crocs, I was the only one with warm dry feet. The thickness of the soles kept the cold out while standing around supervising students.

As 'End of Days' shoes though I wouldn't want to have to kill Satan in them. Would want something a bit more hard-core. Some big spikes at least.
Oh and Holy water. Gotta have Holy Water at the end of days. Hollyweird says so.

I wore them on the weekend and as far as I can tell the sole is standard Croc fair so I would say probably yes.

Did a trip up to the Alpine High Country (My first real overnight hike) a couple of years ago.

Big storm came over... Long story short two plastic bags over my socks worked well. Light Waight and folded up well

I've got these, 120gm each. I cut the tongue and laces out so I can wear the across rivers and they dry quickly so i can wear them with dry socks at night.

Well I just decided on the Crocs for this winter. Fur liners are in the washing machine as I type and the outers are soaking in disinfectant as a precaution.
It was these or the bivvy boots and the Crocs are better to walk to the loo in.
I will add in an extra pair of thick socks as well just for toasty warm feet

Nicely designed bivvy boots and very well priced, how much was postage? Did you get them sized to wear down sox inside them or just over feet?

These just popped up over bicycle land ... might be another option. They are New Balance Minimus Hi-REZ with a claimed weight of 107 grams.

Check out Crocs Santa Cruz. Ive got some and they are great. Crocs comfy soles but look like hybrid black slippers/karate shoes. Superlight.

My three-season preference runs to Merrell 'Trail Gloves', very comfortable, very light, and with a large toebox and Vibram sole. When it comes to late Autumn or Winter use, I invariably opt for a pair of Seak (neoprene) 'reef shoes'. These are also very comfortable, very light and have the necessary feature of being toasty warm.

CROCS - SANTA CRUS RX model. closed top (netting anyway) super comfy croc soles but not ugly clog looking. Used them in Nepal and wearing around home. They dont get a stink up and dry really quick too.

Waterproof socks!!?? I found they were too hot to walk in but toasty in the huts (over dry socks), room for tired feet to relax! Just slip into wet boots if need to go outside. Walking partner wears Kathmandu neoprene shoes - waterproof, light and squishy (fit well into pack) but difficult to find.

The North Face Hedgefrog, love them! Light, very packable and great toe protection!

Normally I dont bring anything to save space but always curse myself for not clipping thongs to my pack. I would wear thongs anywhere and evrrywhere if I could (im only half a bogan lol)
