Burning wood sticks in a Clikstand

Sun 06 Jan, 2013 4:10 pm

Hey I have the Clikstand stainless steel, it seems quite robust for my spirit burner. I'm thinking of using it as an improvised wood stove on some trips, using small sticks. Thoughts?

Jim from Adventures in Stoving mentions it towards the end of this article as a fuel choice, but says he hasn't used it himself this way

Another UK post to add to the one in the post above

Have you considered suspending something like a Gram Cracker (or MYOG version) with some thin wire from the round holed platform to suspend a Hex tablet?
Depends it you're looking for an alternative to carrying metho/alcohol, or specifically want to use wood

I've got a little ti Pocket Stove that's been fun to play around with (2nd bottom row in my link from Backpackinglight UK) but I've not taken it out hiking yet
A lot of the Brits seem to use the Honey Stove with wood as well
I have a small grill top too
Maybe do a little reading about these small wood stoves to give you some ideas how you can adapt or use your Clickstand?

NB the Backpackinglight UK store gives very good comunication and service and fast inexpensive postage

Hmm, taking my mother in law out on a nice easy 10 km walk tomorrow down the Boxvale Track near Mittagong - I might take the Pocket Stove for tea break at the lookout (and the jetboil as a backup!) It's not NP so wood fire should be fine. I'l take some pics.

Can you post pics of the Clickstand and twigs if you try it out?
