Of course - has to take something extraordinary to get your head across Bass Strait

On the other hand - it seems fairly clear the web site counters have gone crazy since the web site hosting was changed.

Lol.
Yeh that's for sure, funny how it only affects some threads at random times too.

Shouldn't that be "heads?"

I love the NZ picture but are they allowed in the "other states" category ??
Should they be in a "other country".

I guess not. One of the rules for this section says,
"The primary subject of the photo should be in Australian states that do not have their own competition"
and I think there are sometimes photos of Tasmanian landscapes in this section which it would seem should also be disqualified.
The rule for Landscape is
"The primary subject of the photo should be in Australia and New Zealand"
but I see one entry is from USA this time.
Also, I'm not sure if the photo can be in Australia AND New Zealand unless it's a satellite view.

And the photo from the usa was in the landscape section , not other states (of Australia) section. I entered the photo from usa with expectations of getting few if any votes , but more to the point not being eligble to win, as the rules state.

Since the voting has (supposed to have) closed for this, mine was the NZ photo. I have to admit I just assumed that the eligibility for [Other States] = [Landscape] - [Tasmania]. Ie since NZ is allowed in Landscape, and it's not allowed in Tasmania, it must be allowed in Other States. But that's not what the rules say! So it will probably get eliminated. C'est la vie!

Isn't NZ a state of Australia?

Yes SoB.
When all the discussion about changes to the comp were occuring, I believe that NZ was included in the Other States category.
And that applied to non-landscape as well.
