TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

DIY Gravity Water Filter.

I was Youtubeing and found some vids about people making their own Gravity filters and just wondering if anyone here has made one.

From what I see all you really need is a Straw filter of some kind and a water bottle like a Platypus bottle and some tubing and you have a Gravity water filter, sounds pretty good and would be pretty good depending on how good the Straw is at filtering, if it has a Ceramic, silver filter with a Carbon filter, that would be pretty good, and if you filter the water though a bandana into the bottle at the start even better :)

I might give it a go if someone can recommend a brand of filter straw that would be best it getting pretty much everything :o

Cheers.

/PS Would only be interested if the entire filter weight at most 200 grams, thats the weight of my current filter the Katadyn Mini, though that is slow to filter and is pretty hard to pump, better to hang up four liters and let the gravity do the work :)

Cheers.
