I love the ethnicity of the Kuksa cup but would be hesitant for it to be my "one and only" as would I with a cheap plastic cup !
I realise that some do not care about cross flavors but I really like my black tea to taste only of tea(dont drink instant coffee) also like wine or port to be redolent of wine not tea and soup to be well, soupy in a separate container it adds 138g to my load but would not drink wine out of my soup bowl nor soup of of my tea cup at home so why do so in the Bush
I can also boil water in my 550ml Ti mug and would be happy with a SS one also

I know it is not but it looks a wee bit like a Stink Horn and that is redolent of the NIDOR which I suspect some multi use Mugs must exude

Not a lot... i'll admit. Could say iv'e been using a ti goat mug lately, i think thats already been mentioned, it burns my lips but hey.. it Is light, and the ti pasta pot fits in it.

I like the Kuksa Cup! Very cooool.

My cup is a Firelite 475ml Titanium Trapper's Mug. I use a kevlar cover bought from Ebay that is usually made to protect arms from knives, however this one was cut down and put over the mug to protect my hands from being burnt. Kevlar blocks heat very well for its weight.
Total weight 44grams for a 475ml cup

I used to have what we call a "kåsa". Traditionally they were made of wood but the modern plastic version is great, you can stack them together and use them as a cup, bowl or whatever. Very rugged, comes in different sizes and lightweight enough for me. Lost it and is nowdays using a small (too small) plastic cup I got from Woolworth for 50 cent.

Probably not too many non-Scandinavians have one. Even for a southern Swede like me it's a bit exotic...

I have been looking for a cup to go with my cooking kit that will just be used for my coffee, I have looked around and have seen plenty, the one I am eyeing at the moment is the GSI - Infinity Insulated Mug, http://www.kellysbasecamp.com.au/p/1042 ... d-mug.html.

I am looking for one that is insulated and has a sippy cup lid and possibly be used as a cook pot, so it would have to be metal, but being metal is not essential i have two pots with my cook kit already, I know I could probably make one out of a beer can just fine, but I want to buy a decent one

If anyone could recommend some cups with my Mentioned specs, that would be nice.

Double walled mugs can't be used for cooking, and they weigh more. Seriously just grab whatever plastic mug you've got lying around at home and use that until it breaks. Bushwalking is about getting out there and amongst it all, your choice of mug will have no impact on the experience. If you're thinking about weight then you need to remember that the mug may make up 1% of your total pack mass, so it's hardly worth considering IMO. I'm actually surprised there is a an entire thread devoted to the subject!

However.... if I had to recommend a mug specifically for bushwalking it would have to be the trusty old plastic Decor stackable picnic ones. Cheap as chips, Australian made (or at least they used to be), unbreakable and they weigh next to nothing, maybe 50g? If you're worried about cup-of-soup flavoured tea then throw in a second one!

I agree a cups a cup. I have one of those sea to summit collapsable ones that weigh nothing take up no space. Otherwise I use the mug that comes with my GSI soloist.

One to consider if cooking would be the titanium vargo cup 750ml. Im about to grab one (when they arrive in stock at adventure friends) as my nalgene bottle fits inside it, which my pack has specific pockets near the hip belt that perfectly fit a nalgene. Now my pot and mug will be one and out of my pack. That leaves more room for the kitchen sink

I tried one of those sea to summit cups last night. There was a horrible tainted taste and it just didn't seem right, like drinking from plant pot.
I have a similar size ti mug/pot (evernew pasta pot) mic but also have a 550ml (tibetan) cup that it slides into and made a cosy for it all. Holds enough fuel, stove, caldera shield thing, spork and tea/coffee makings n milk for a night and day all in the size not much bigger than the 750 pot. I pondered the drink bottle thing but decided that the contents of the pot would still take similar space in a pack.

Ps. The silicone s2s cup i was thinking would make a good muffin cup?

Try the Ti Goat (now Ruta Locura) 550ml mug with carbon fibre lid - Ti and CF in one product - that's as hi tech as I can take .

Practically speaking the best mug is the one you remember to pack and take with you, i have forgotten once or three times and really don't like drinking billy tea straight from the billy or having to wait while i wash up between courses, if you frequent the huts tho there is usually a spare sitting on a shelf above the fires

I use a two mug system.

The 550ml Ti (same as the Tibetan mentioned a few times) for boiling water and herbal tea and the GSI for soup, coffee and chocolate.
(note the Carbon Fiber lid)

The reason for two mugs is that as I wait for my meal to re-hydrate (inside a bag/pouch) I can have some soup first and I don't usually have to wash the Ti mug.

A mug is a mug, I suppose. If you care about weight (as the Ti and carbon fiber folks surely do) you should be posting the grams.

I usually use a 500ml plastic measuring cup (you can see a couple in this photo). Mine weighs a portly 68 grams, but I found that I dislike drinking or eating out of a metal cup, even when it has silicone at the edge.

I also use a two mug system a 550 Tibetan TI with a lid for Earl Grey tea and to boil water plus a 500 ml screw-top plastic container which fits in the mug perfectly for Soup and 2 Min Noodles combined weight of 137gm.
If I am taking alcohol I also carry a GSI Lexan wine glass (the removable stem type) which adds another 86 gm to my load the days of one mug for all are long gone
