I'm thinking a quick trip between cloud bursts to the short trails around Lake Barrington, but Cradle Mountain calleth. cold and wet- what could be better?

When are we doing our August walk and from memory SL8 was the organiser to Meander Falls with an overnight at Huntsmans Hideaway hut.

Got to to catch up on cutting firewood, you need a lot when you have a slow combustion stove and a wood heater.
Last weekend spent Sunday and Monday doing line searches for a missing woman so I this weekend is a chores.

Had night at Lemonthyme lodge (courtesy of old employer...a very nice parting present) on Thursday night. Did the No Name falls and Big tree loops. Great walking up there. The falls are very pretty. Have done the Champagne and Bridal Veil falls walk in past, which is photographers wet dream. I'm not walking this weekend because I have to get ready for new job, but If L8r gets his thumb out we will take dogs for a run on Mersy river this arvo.

Hope to get up Mt Wellington tomorrow. Either up the Old Hobartians track, or maybe Collins Bonnett. The mountain is now my training and day walk centre - I can't get enough of walking up there, it's so close to home and just so beautiful. And I must be a little perverse because I like walking up the top when it's all snowy and icy and slushy. It just feels good being up there in winter.

Was going to walk today but my son (and walking buddy) is also an SES volunteer and has been on call outs all last night. We've had gale force winds across Sydney and there are a lot of trees down. Hopefully go bushwalking somewhere tomorrow, maybe the upper Blue Mountains.

Anyway I'm about to head off for a ~16km run as the last major bit of training for the City to Surf fun run next Sunday.

I was going to go poking around the Badger Ranges outside of Sheffield today, but the rain would have made it too slimy for a 4yo and wifey, so we went to the Tassie Arboretum instead. And then, in the spirit of trees, I went and bought 27 birch trees. So no walking tommorrow-- It's all DIGGING!

Silvers and canoe. MATE- buy them where I did- they were so cheap it was unbelievable! These babies are like 3-4 metres tall, and they cost $50 for 5. SWEET!

We have 2.7 bare acres. In the last 2 weeks I've planted over 200 trees on it...

Yeah, I know I was supposed to be organising this. I haven't been able to do anything much yet, the knee that I injured up on Cradle is still giving me grief (it had improved but then I think I re-injured it at the gym). I was hoping it'll be better by next weekend, but that's probably going to be too short notice. I have a 70th birthday the following weekend, so that's out. That makes the most likely dates (for me, at least) the 23rd/24th. Should we pencil that in maybe?

EDIT: - Oh yeah, so to answer the question. Nowhere, my knee is buggered!

I am going nowhere having caught a virus late last week and having my balance affected, as well as the nasty side effects in the chest etc However, its a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I am typing this on our deck looking at snow capped BenLomond under blue skies. Saw some amazing photos at the LWC meeting last Wed night of deep snow cover around Cradle with the Kitchen Hut buried up to the second floor. Have to enjoy memories of past trips until the body is up to it again

The 23-24th Aug. should be o.k with me too. I'll have some new skin on my heels by then, and the new walking pole I christened on the Waterfall Valley trip has been a big help for my sometimes sore knee.
I hope you other fellows get back to full health and fitness a.s.a.p. It's no fun being laid up with injury or a "lergy"

I had the pleasure/experience of accessing Kitchen Hut through the top door some years ago how old were the LWC pics, always fun to explain to newcomers why the shovel is where it is and hope you haven't got the virus I had as it floored me for a week and even now 6 weeks later I still have a sore throat.

Hi Corvus, I still had the photos on my laptop from LWC meeting last Wednesday night, so here is the photo of Kitchen Hut last weekend taken by Phil Dawson, perhaps not totally buried all around, but certainly up to second floor at the back. Re virus, my wife also took about 6 weeks to get over her bout, and it looks like she has shared it with me

I am going with a group of about 8 Hash House Harriers tomorrow to walk the section of PCT from Loongana to Gunns Plains.
One of the group is a member of the NWWC and expects it to be approx 9 hrs. Hopefully the rain holds off. Not too sure what to expect (of me) just South of Tulip Creek, will take it as it comes. Looking forward to getting out of the house!

Had a great walk on Sunday from Loongana Rd to Gunns Plains. While descending Griffiths Ridge on the Northern side, there is a track junction to some falls which we did'nt have time to do, so will go back for them. Saw Rhys and Fizzygoods entry in the Logbook at Blackwood Camp. The rock face south of Tulip creek was a doddle in the end, dont know what I was worried about. Two of the walkers with us bit off a bit more than they could chew, blew the walk time right out - 11.5hrs, last 3/4 of walk completed in dark with headtorches, - still a good day.
Going to Pelion Hut via Arm River track this week, 19/20th - first time - plan to climb Oakleigh and Pillinger on way out - doing a food run for a group doing the OT.
BWT Strollers triple top walk this weekend 22/23 will be fantastic, -getting a few kms under the boots.
After that however, my Minister for Good Times (wife) has informed me that all leave passes will be suspended till after Xmas -we'll see - still hope to swing a 1 day pass to get up Black Bluff.

Sounds good to me L8r!,
The calendar fills up quickly this time of year, as does everyones I expect. There was a fair dusting of snow on BB on Sunday, had great view from top of Griffiths Ridge. I only still have either 7, 13, or 14th Dec free, and its a matter of penciling..er.. biro-ing? it in on the calendar before my wife STAMPS something right across the day.
It would be good to do something in Dec. with the Strollers as an Xmas walk, you know, Santa hats and all - or not!
We'll see who else is interested/can make it.
