I have walked from Lake Ada on the normal track and then north to Lunka Lake and west across Quail Gully, and past the northern side of New Years Lake to Lake Tyre. In January last year I walked from Little Fisher River past Long Tarns and Lake Butters down through Quail Gully to Talleh Lagoons. I have attached a photo taken from the hilltop at the northeastern end of New Years Lake.
As with all this area fairly open walking - especially on the ridge tops. Very grassy and open in Quail Gully.

G'day Robbo, I think my pic is taken just a bit right of centre of your pic.
I have spent a lot of time in that area over many years, usually chasing trout ,but a bit of it just exploring.
New Year's Lake hasn't seen me too often as there are no trout in there but I have followes the watershed up to headwaters then continued to upper reaches of Powena creek where there are a few decent ones.
In 1984 I camped for 6 nights between where our pics were taken where there are 2 small tarns (with fish) and we were able to walk to Pillans or Lunka and many others in half an hour or so. Interesting to wander from Pillans to Butters and others along the inflow creeks.with polaroids in even reasonable weather.
Nik I'll dig out some old pics and scan them up but the quality will be a bit average,still you'll get the general idea.
