Spring skiing on the Main Range

Postby tsangpo » Wed 03 Oct, 2012 7:30 pm

Went up to Charlotte's Pass with the family last week and day tripped around the main range for 4 days. First day was terrible, the next two fantastic and the last one good but threatening rain. We were on skating gear the first day then the rest of the family went to light touring, while I stayed with skating, for the rest of the trip and I was on snowshoes for the final day.

Day 1: tried to get to Kosi but only got a bit past Seaman's Hut due to the weather.
Day 2: went back in to Perisher to collect light touring gear and skied around on the plains between Charlotte's Pass and Perisher.
Day 3: did a circuit via Blue Lake and Kosi.
Day 4: Followed the Snowy down to the swing bridge and then bush bashed our way up Spencers Creek before doing an iffy crossing and following the ridge up to the Mt Guthrie's

Here's a few photos.
