Mt Barrow

Managed to get a moment to drive up Mt Barrow this evening after all the recent snowfall. Quite a lot of the snow has already gone, but with a clear evening it was still absolutely beautiful

Fantastic golden sunset due to the ash cloud!
I've only been up that road once and it was in miserable weather 16 years ago.

Do you reckon that would affect it? It was a slightly odd sunset...
I highly recommend Mt Barrow for people in Launceston. I think (I'm biased) it's as nice as Mt Wellington, and it's absolutely stunning watching the clouds form below you through the Scottsdale area! Although you really do need a 4x4 if there's been much snow or rain :/

Loved your photos nick. Yeah I was up there just a few weeks back. It's an awesome place for a 30 min drive from launnie. If you don't mind all the comm equipment around

Beautiful - thanks for posting.
I was watching the evening sky tonight and its a cold cold night coming up but I noticed the sky had a hue to it that I would call 'abnormal'.
The sky to south over Mt Roland and also northern sky had a beautiful soft pale pink-blue hazey appearance to it.
I wondered how the 'ash cloud' affected it.

Yeah I saw that too. I live on the hill in West Launnie and the whole eastern horizon from Ben Lomond to Mt Arthur had the 'haze'...
I think it's just be the particles in the air reflecting and refracting light
