Just clocked up as of this morning about 40-45 hours of use, on about 15 fast half day-walks all between 12 kms and 25 kms - about 200ks use all up and carrying anywhere between 500 grams and 1.6 kgs.
Basically my brew kit-canister/caffetierra/cup, some water-the square one litre milk bottle works well, an Onda mat off cut seat, sunnies,a small down jumper and rain coat or fauxdini/gloves and beanie.
Walking and jog/shuffle-it can bounce a bit-but no babying it whatsoever.
Had to look again this morning at all the seams -not a broken stitch/seam. Nothing.
No double /felled seams any where-just simple straight single stitching. One hole from a wayward cinder -was using it as a windscreen to make my coffee.
100% polyester-it says.
This was the lightest of its ilk I came across and when Mark mentioned 45 grams-I had to try it.
At 45 grams the value of this thing is remarkable.This is comfortable even tho' no padded straps-just double layer fabric.
Lebanese bread bag liner for 100% waterproofness even in hours of pouring rain.
Bonzer! If I ever make another order there I will get another.

I have one.

Its great for a long water carry back to camp or for a dozen other tasks that need a carrier but you dont want to bring the main pack.

Bang on 45 grams on my scales and the fabric is plenty robust.

Not really enough capacity for the day walks I do but would be plenty for jaunts around town where you just want a jumper, bottle of water and suncreen etc

Well if you insist on carrying that Humidor, Fez, Paisley smoking jacket and banana lounge what do you expect.

This is out in the bush, after all. One simply does not overdress when roughing it.

Well I would but I feel the ol chap is already burdened with the camp chair.. especially as I like to sit up high as we go along.. breathing the fresh air and admiring the blue yonder..

Jolly chap though.. former National Parks ranger. found him wandering around the park after the treasury decided they were surplus to requirements. He knows the land well and doesnt jostle the chair to much.

It took me while to see the chair-all I could see were the purple velvet pants.

yeah he is a snappy dresser.. but there is a safety aspect as well. If I ever become seperated from my gear, I just look for the fluro purple. You can see em.. even in total whiteout conditions.

Yes, I made that from the remains of the previous jacket. The porterwallah was clumsy and spilled brandy on it when topping up the old snifter. You just can't get good help these days...

Had me thinking as I had this little thing loaded up this morning, out walking jogging along for a few hours, with some room to spare inside and with lots of water at 1.5 kgs and passed a walking group with their heavy and what looked to be half empty large and heavy daypacks, just how it's the quality of design and finish that matters and intended purpose. The weight of 46 grams for this type of load and my purposes is spot on. Mainly open, a few bushes and trees. Not too much to snag on it's all hidden behind you. The shape is really nice as well. Nice slidey fabric. Heavy scrub- leave it at home I suppose or (as I intend to) build it from Robic 200D (not velvet sorry) a la ULA. It is just well built and designed. So much so I'm going to steal this design for my diy rucksack number two.
