Narrow escape on the Te Araroa Trail: 'This is actually pretty risky'
Bill Johnson and Pip Hawkes didn't expect to have issues completing the Auckland section of the Te Araroa Trail.

Both seasoned trampers, Johnson said they thought the some 80 kilometre trek from just south of Orewa to Auckland Airport would essentially be "a tramp through the suburbs.

"But the first one to two hours was a real adventure."
