winter conditions have arrived early. you must have winter experience in snow and ice on steep slopes to venture into the alpine zone .

Doesn’t surprise me - I was walking the dogs along the beach this arvo down the Mornington Penisula ( in Victoria), and we were hit by a storm where I could hardly walk forward, with almost horizontal rain, and *&%$#! cold. Dogs turned and ran back where we’d come from! Note nearby meteorological site registered 93km/h winds when we were out, and it’s been *&%$#! cold and miserable all day ( was going to sand and paint my boat, but been sitting inside by the fire).
