Fair enough if you don't care personally, but a little more sensitivity to the fact that people have lost loved ones in these accidents would be appropriate.

for those who dont realise who want to go to mt cook and climb, it can be a pretty dangerous place despite having none of the superlatives of scale and statistics as places like the himalayas and andes.
200 plus have died climbing in the park. most years there are deaths in the park, some of them are quite experiencced climbers.
without helicopters and extremely experienced and dedicated search and rescue crews who are called out numerous times a year to rescue people in the park, the death toll would be significantly higher.
lets all be careful out there.

And the incident on Friday, I wonder why the man wasn't wearing crampons? I've flown into that hut 3 times and know that area a bit. You basically need crampons everywhere in that area. I have my foot fangs on as soon as I walk out the door.

I'ts a given that people think its a tragic accident and feel for the deceased's family, friends, rescue personnel etc.

Perhaps an accompanying comment from the OP with any link to a news article/opinion piece would be helpful (with any snippet from the article in quote marks to save confusion).

people will take what they want out of a news article, it doesnt always need the OP to comment, it was a relevant piece of news regarding the nz outdoors, more specific to climbers
