I have flown in and out of Milford sound. It's very bouncy going over the peaks in a light plane - I think I'd be waiting for the road to open.

and its one hell of an expensive flight....

Oh darn people will have to walk the Route burn Track instead..... such a terrible alternative at that
Sounds like a decent chunk of rock.

technically you can climb out. the shortest route is to go up the grave talbot route up the gulliver river up to the grave talbot pass. then grovel along the knife edge ridge , over mt mcperhson and down to homer saddle. and down to the road.
