Have ten run/walky bouts of 12 to 15ks each time, sat on granite, ground around didn't try to protect them (no use in scrub but brushed them on light branches -slippery buggers which is good- though by their nature these type of shorts are light) not a mark on them. I think they are ripstop and compared to my Underarmour running shorts (with pockets and five times the cost) they seem tough enough. The jockette is poly 100% no elastane as well and they dry while you look at them or with your legs open while you are sitting and NO chafing so far. Of course you can cut it out which brings me to the next bargain (?)

they are tightish but work well and priced so you can try them. They have others but more expensive. Quality on both products seems excellent.
I found for what it's worth, both are true to size. Only trouble is postage cost.

For lightweight bushwalking, tightish briefs beat "tightish boxers" every time.

I wish the integrated jocks concept would also be offered in outdoor pants.

I usually wear lightweight pants that convert to shorts. As often during my trips I require leg protection.

Gaiters (take them on and off as needed) and these or similar shorts bingo, bango...
Long pants in most weather and conditions went out with button up shoes

Gaiters are heavier than trouser legs and my knees get sunburnt and anyway, gaiters are for scrub-bashing or ophidiophobes.

I will stick with my OR ferrosi dacks - plus those polyester running shorts smell satanically after a day's sweat.

Nope. My shorts get sweaty. And my jocks. and my shirt. and my hat.

I usually wear running shorts for, er, running and they smell obnoxiously after becoming sweaty which I suspect is a consequence of my unique skin bacterial flora inhabiting the polyester fibres.

If I could get nylon running shorts i still wouldn't consider them for bushwalking as i prefer shorts that cover most of my thighs (if I am going to wear shorts) as I usually walk in alpine areas above the treeline and I am not as sanguine about sunburn as I was in my youth. Last couple of times i wore shorts it was because I was wearing gaiters because of scrub and they were mountain biking nylon shorts without the inners - knee length and, with the commando option, very light and well ventilated.

wearing gaiters because you are wearing shorts (instead of trousers) for ultralight reasons makes no sense as shorts + gaiters would weigh more than a pair of lightweight walking trousers. Wearing gaiters because it is scrubby and then wearing shorts because the trousers wouldn't be necessary makes sense, of course. So long as you put sunscreen on your knees and upper calves.

so I thought myself once however the scars tell differently. After a few too many off-track adventures in shorts and gaiters I’ve learned to armor up with long pants/ long shirt (and gaiters). That and my partner was continually unimpressed when Id return home bleeding. Im mainly a 3 season walker (avoiding summer)

My skin does tend to rip easily though.. and I know a few peope who go the gaiters and shorts route who manage to mostly avoid looking like they wrestled with a whipper snipper

Yes, sunscreen splarky, I wear it all the time, have to don't you, and apply it properly at the appropriate times.

I wonder if they work for the laydees too? I don't like ladies running shorts, they sit too low- I don't want to look like a plumber. This happened to my favourite pair of (mens) shorts last week :-/ Two seperate incidents mind you, it was hot, so perhaps it was just unintentional air conditioning alterations?

These have an 11 cm inseam. They look longer than yours.
Weigh app 95gms in XL with out the inner jocks, about 105gms with.
Bare bones, very airy and light (not see through), no pockets (one little key/cash one) no air venting panels, no stretch.
The pics on the site show exactly how they cover.

11 inch in seam seems (ha!pardon the pun) like a good length

I've fully embraced UL and to save 137gm by only wearing a goretex lap-lap - nothing else.
