Wanted to buy Scrap of Stretch fabric

Postby Moondog55 » Sat 11 Jun, 2016 4:36 pm

I don't need enough to make an overseas order worthwhile and Cecile has already packed to come home
I need 2 scraps of windproof stretch fabric; each about 210mm * 330mm for the knees of my DIY ski tights
I'm hard on the knees of my clothing and even 2 layers of Powerstretch probably won't last long
Looking for something wind resistant and hard wearing; stretch and as dark as possible so it doesn't show the dirt
Waterproof/ water resistant or DWR would be a bonus
Sale or swap for other fabrics

Any chance of cutting that much out of something from the ops shop made out of suitable material ??

Maybe a pair of worn op shop pants would have enough unworn area.?

If its only knee patches what about an old cordura bag for a donor, and cutting/fitting the patches to allow for the lack of stretch in the cordura.

It would look pretty daggy, but then your skiing doesn't need to look as proficient

I asked here because I've not found any donor articles and the only heavy Lycra fabric here is red sparky stuff for girls dance dresses
It simplifies the sewing if all layers of fabric have similar properties
If all else fails I'll buy 200mm from Spotlight
If they have any that is
How durable and wind resistant is a double layer of Powerstretch>? This isn't the PowerStretch Pro+ unfortunately which is highly wind resistant

I'm putting in a plug for an eBay seller

He says he will send me a "Sample" big enough for knee patches FOC as Cecile buys from him often

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/300933456140 ... EBIDX%3AIT

So if it arrives problem solved

EDIT
It arrived
Just enough to do the knees of one pair of pants, Very stretchy and not really windproof but it will do
