WTB [VIC mel] WE Wild Child M/L

Sun 05 Jun, 2016 9:43 am

Hi All,

Looking to buy a second hand Wilderness Equipment Wild Child pack within the next 6 months. We would be interested in the M/L size. I was hoping that someone on here might have one hiding in there cupboard that no longer gets used.

Happy to pay for postage, so don't need to be in Vic. Price paid would depend on age and condition naturally.

Thanks all for looking and your help,

Justin.

Hi Justin. The Wild Child is a seriously over-engineered piece of kit and whilst very strong, it was seemingly not very popular. Is there any particular reason you would be like to avoid the usual Macpac or Osprey options?

Hi Strider,

No great reason really. The biggest factors I guess are:
- I really like the WE harness, and have done a lot of walking in one.
- I have seen it in use, and liked the design.
- Know that it will fit me and my partner.
- I have been very impressed with the quality of other WE gear that I own.
- My usual outdoor store sells both the Mont and WE child carrier, so I have had a good look at both of them. I thought they both looked good.

I had not seen Osprey and Macpac child carriers in use, so I went and had a look on there websites. To me, Macpac's and Osprey's current offerings appear over engineered in comparision to WE. Perhaps the designs have changed? Or is there something I am missing? The specs put them as heavier, the frames look far more bulky and unyielding, they don't seem to have as large storage areas.

I guess I should make some time, and check a couple of other shops and see these other brands in the flesh.

Thanks for your feedback,

Justin.
