This project is about making a light, soft and fixed tent stove jack that can fit various pipe diameters for winter backpacking. This stove jack is made from DIY silcotton that can be made from simple shirt cotton and RTV silicone rubber and a bit of easy tinkering. Multiple flaps of the composite fabric can be glued together, like a notebook, to provide stove jacks of various sizes. In the example above, there is provision for 40, 50 and 60mm diameter pipes and a blank weather flap over the top. "If an even larger jack was required, it could be cut into the weather flap and another weather flap could be added."

The stove jack assembly is designed to be sewn into the tent seams as the tent is being made, but it can be retrofitted to an existing tent, by sewing and or glueing, depending upon the tent fabric. It allows my different-sized stoves to be used in the tent and ensures that the correct jack and weather cover are always packed. The sewing in during tent making allows the jack to be positioned optimally near the tent apex without compromising the natural strength of the tent seams. It also improves the clearance of flammable or meltable material in close proximity to the hot stove pipe.

Here is a little video tour of the inside of a large breathing polyester pyramid tent with a hot stove pipe passing through the 60mm jack flap on a rainy day.
