The Jerk(in)

Postby Lamont » Mon 21 Sep, 2020 1:10 pm

Found an ul crew fleece at the Op shop for fifty cents. 160 gms with sleeves. Chopped them off.
Was out running and walking this morning at about 8 degrees with this over a very LW Capilene hoody (Rab Pulse Hoody) with the wind chill and felt a zipper would be just the ticket as I was getting a bit warm. Fired up the Janome and 'borrowed' a zipper from my daughter's dress and ......the Jerk(in) was born.
Made as a beater to wear under my rucksack for short trippin' running for those times a full fleecey is too warm and just a Capilene hoody is not warm enough.
Should have kept a bit more of the shoulder/top of the sleeve. Gets tangled with my rucksack shoulder straps. But the air gap under the arm pit is nice for ventilation. No need to sew the cut edges of the sleeves -worn this now about twenty or so times and nothing is unravelling.
105 gms. Rolls up the size of a pair of small socks.
Go and save a fleece from the Op shop and save your flooce.

Nicely done! Is your daughter going to be cross about her dress?
I like a vest for those 'in between times', I have a great merino one that comes up 2x a year on my uniform order, bit heavy to take if going for a few days, but a very versatile piece on shorter jaunts.

Let's say my daughter is not knowing at the minute. I turfed the (rarely worn and dumped in the corner of her old room) mini skirt, but my other daughter caught me. So I'm waiting for a shellacking at some stage.
I have been jogging slowly as part of my walking/exercise regime and a whole fleecey is too warm-this is brilliant down to about 5 degrees with not much under and shorts. Big bonus is my UL paper thin baselayer under doesn't smell for days as the arm pits are so well ventilated.
Just in from wearing this under the windshirt (you have) on my slow joggy it was seven degrees with 15-20 km/hr fully exposed wind -apparent temp of about 4 degrees and very high humidity--warm and dry under. A great combination. Have you busted out the shirt yet?
Viva la Jerk(in)!

Oh dear, you are going to be in strife.
So you have joined the slow joggers club too?! Welcome. Your membership card will be in the mail ;-)

I was kicking myself for not taking that windshirt of yours the last two days. 50-60km/hr winds, made 5c feel way colder than it was. My Nitro hadn't arrived yet , so used the Pisa as an active layer- I was so sweaty with it on, but too cold without it. I think just the windshirt over my collared shirt would have been just the ticket. Cry, cry, cry.

What!
Being a titchy 70gms and a titchy wee object packed..... :D :D Surely you have room in the rucksack now..... :D :D or even your shorts pocket, or under your hat, or tucked into your sock :D :D
The Nitro and the cycling shirt will carry you wayyy downnnn...(especially over a nylon walking shirt or UL baselayer) :D :D :D if the wind picks up chuck your rain coat over-you will remain WARM and most wonderfully ....DRY. :D :D :D
That is a promise, well of a sort.
