The quilt I made

Hello All,
I just finished making a Down quilt. I based the design on a quilt I saw on YouTube by Tac Blade. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. It hugs the body perfectly. Undercling-mike kindly allowed me to source all my materials from him and also gave me plenty of tips. The internet was also a great resource when it came to tips.
Cheers, Donna

How did you determine the quilting pattern and sizing?
Looks like some serious loft there

That's awesome. Looks like a Karo-step design?

Hi Moondog,

Sizing was based on a mixture of things; the size of my summer bag, what other people were saying on the internet, and then making up a few mock samples using an old sleeping bag and pins. The pattern was pretty much all based on trying to work out what TacBlade had done, and then finally throwing caution in the air and just going for it. The majority of my baffles were 39cm, with 10cm gaps.

Well done.

I've looked at the karostep designs, and they actually looked more complex than sewing in baffles!

Certainly looks nice and fat and fluffy. How much does it weigh?

I did spend a fair bit of time planning, but once all my sew-points were marked up and my material cut to size it all came together extremely quickly. Filling with the down was pretty quick too, with minimal loss.

It weights 580gms. I've only tested it at 5 degrees so far.

Nicely done Donna, it looks great! I'm also impressed that you got it done quite quickly, I remember I ordered the materials for my first quilt probably about 4 months before I actually started making it.

Definitely with these projects the planning and then marking and cutting the material are the critical steps. For one off projects that part of the process always seems to take longer than the actual sewing for me.
